Vedic Math- Subtraction by dot method

Hello friends in this article you are going to learn subtraction by dot method. You can see the addition by dot method and we are going to publish one vedic math trick every month.

Basic subtraction- The subtraction is one of the basic operation we need to know for math. We subtract digit from digit and if the  minuend is smaller than the subtrahend than we borrow 1 from the next digit and minus one from it. For example- we borrow 1 from 4 to 7 then we will get 4 as 3 and 7 as 17.

Subtraction by dot method- We use dots except of the numbers to be borrowed.

Steps for using dot method for subtraction- 

Ex 1- 78 - 49
       
     
Step 1- We take 10 as a base. Then we subtract the ones place of  subtrahend from 10, so, 10-9=1. Then we add difference of the previous subtraction to the ones place of the minuend, so, 1+8=9.
So we put 9 at ones place.
Step 2- We subtract 4 from 7, which is 3. so answer is 39.

Ex 2- 185 - 99

Step 1- 10 - 9= 1 
                    1 + 5 = 6

Step 2- 9+1= 10 we add 1 to 9 except subtracting 1 from 8.
             Now we take the 1 as 10 and subtract 10-10=0.
             Now 0+8=8.
Answer- 86.
