· The tapas and the other hard yogasthat were practiced in other yugas do not work now. What is needed in this yuga is giving, helping others. What is meant by dana? The highest of the gifts is the giving of spiritual knowledge, the next is giving secular knowledge and next is saving of life the last is giving food and drink. He who gives spiritual knowledge saves the soul from many and many a birth.
· You are the makers of your own fortunes. You make yourself suffer, you make good and evil and it is you who put your hands before your eyes and say it is dark. Take your hands away and see it is light.
· Even the least work is done for others awakens the power within gradually instils into the heart the strength of a lion.
· This life is short, the vanities of the world are transient, but they alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead than alive.
· In the world take all the position of the giver; help, give service, give any little thing you can, but keep out barter.
· Neither seek nor avoid, take what comes. This is freedom to be affected by nothing. Do not merely endure by unattached.
