1. What is a tributary?
Ans- A stream or a river discharge its water from the main river is called a tributary.

2. Why large number of people live in Northern plains?
Ans- Large number of people live in plains because-
1. The land here is plain and level.
2. Many rivers flow through these plains.
3. This land is fertile for agriculture.

3. How are Himalayan mountains divided?
Ans- Himalayan mountains are divided into three parallel ranges-
1. North most part Greater Himalayas or Himadri.
2. The middle Himalayas or Himachal, many popular hill stations.
3. The third range is Siwalik range.
