1. Norman Abramson passes away 


•Norman Abramson, one of the early pioneers behind wireless networks, passed away in December 2020, 


•Abramson and his team developed ALOHAnet in 1971, the first system to transmit data between computers using radio waves. 


•ALOHAnet pioneered the concept of wireless packet communication over a shared medium.

2. 16 December: Vijay Diwas 


•Vijay Diwas is observed every year in India on December 16. 


•On this day, Indians remember the victory of the Indian military over Pakistan as well as for the separation of Bangladesh from Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan war of 19771. 


•Vijay Diwas history dates back from 1971 when an India-Pakistan war took place and lasted for about 13 days.

3. J Hima Kohli appointed as CJ of Telangana HC 


•Justice Hima Kohli has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court. 


•She is currently serving as the Senior Judge in the Delhi HC. 


•She was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Delhi in 2006 and took oath as a Permanent Judge in 2007. 


• She became a Member of the General Council of the West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences, Kolkata in 2017.

4. J.S. Muralidhar appointed as CJ of Orissa HC 


•The Supreme Court Collegium appointed Justice S. Muralidhar as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. 


•At present, Justice Muralidhar is a Judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana. 


•He assumed the office of Judge at the High Court of Punjab and Haryana on March 6, 2020. 


•He was initially appointed as a Judge to the High Court of Delhi in May 2006.

दूसरो को ट्रुखत देख कर खुद भी त्रुखत हुए तरकभूषणजी

के सुप्रसिद्ध विद्वान श्री विश्वनाथ तक भूषण अत्यंत दयालु थे। दुखियों की मुक्त हस्त से सहायता करने और लोक कल्याण में जुटे रहने उनका स्वभाव था। इसी वजह से वे लोगों के बीच प्रसिद्ध थे। एक बार श्री भूषण गंभीर रूप से बीमार हो गए। बड़े-बड़े चिकित्सक आए किंतु तर्क भूषण जी को स्वस्थ नहीं कर पाए। फिर 1 दिन बाद चिकित्सक को उनके परिजन किसी अन्य शहर से लेकर आए। उन्होंने तर्क आभूषण की जांच की और दवा आदि का निर्धारण कर परिजनों को आदेश दिया कि रोगी को एक बूंद भी जल नहीं दे। जल देते हैं उनकी हालत और खराब हो जाएगी। लंबे समय तक तक भूषण को पानी नहीं दिया गया। कुछ दिनों तक सब कुछ ठीक रहा फिर एक दिन उन्हें तीव्र प्यास लगी पूर्णविराम पानी दिया नहीं जा सकता था इसलिए वह घर के लोगों से बोले मैंने ग्रंथों मैं पढ़ा है और स्वयं भी दूसरों को उपदेश दिया है कि समस्त प्राणियों में एक ही आत्मा है आज मुझे इसका प्रत्यक्ष अनुभव करना है। ब्राह्मणों को यह बुलाओ और उन्हें मेरे सामने शरबत तरबूज का रस तथा हरे नारियल का पानी पिलाओ घर के लोगों ने तत्काल यही व्यवस्था कर दी। जब ब्राम्हण शरबत पीने लगे तो तर्कभूषण जी कि प्यास तत्काल मित गई और वे ठीक हो गए।

महामना मालवीय के आदर्श से राजा की छुटी शराब

मोहन मालवीय ने जब कॉलेज की शिक्षा पूर्ण की तब उनकी आर्थिक स्थिति बहुत खराब थी। उन्हें तत्काल अध्यापक की नौकरी करनी पड़ी। कालाकांकर के राजा श्री पाल सिंह ने उनकी बहुत ख्याति सुन रखी थी पूर्णविराम उन्होंने उस समय हिंदुस्तान नामक समाचार पत्र का प्रकाशन आरंभ किया था जिसके लिए उन्हें 1 सुयोग्य संपादक बनने का आग्रह किया। आर्थिक तंगी के चलते मालवीय जी ने यह प्रस्ताव स्वीकार तो कर लिया किंतु शराब के आदी राजा के सामने शर्त रखी कि जब आप नशे में हो तो कृपया कार्यालय में मेरे पास ना पूर्णविराम राजा साहब ने मान लिया। इसके बाद मालवीय जी ने संपादन का कार्य अत्यंत तन्मयता से शुरू कर दिया। किंतु 1 दिन राजा साहेब नशे में अपने शर्त भूल गए और मालवीय जी के कार्यालय जा पहुंचे। मालवीय जी ने तुरंत त्यागपत्र दे दिया। नशा राजा साहेब को बड़ी गर्मी हुई और उन्होंने मालवीय जी से क्षमा याचना की किंतु मालवीय जी बोले मैं अपने आदर्शों को सर्वोपरि मानता हूं और उनके साथ कोई समझौता नहीं कर सकता। आप मुझे क्षमा करें मैं अब आपके यहां कार्य नहीं कर सकता। राजा साहेब ने उस दिन से शराब छोड़ दी और मालवीय जी को वकालत पढ़ने के लिए ₹250 मानसिक छात्रवृ देते रहे। वस्तुत: मैतिक प्रतिमानों के पालन से जीवन आदर्श बनता है।

1. Rupifi joins hands with Axis Bank 


•Axis Bank has partnered with fintech lending platform Rupifi to offer a business credit card powered by Visa. 


•The card will be offered to MSMEs to transact on aggregator platforms for their business purchases. 


• Rupifi works with large aggregators like food delivery platforms, e-commerce companies, etc. to reach out to micro-businesses selling on their platforms.

2. Writer Ranendra honoured with an award 


•Writer and critic in Hindi Ranendra has been honoured with the Shrilal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman for the year 2020 by Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). 


•The award is given annually to a person who has made an important contribution in the field of literature. 


•This award was started in the year 2011 in the memory of the storyteller Shrilal Shukla.

3. UP: 1st to conduct over 2 cr COVID tests 


•Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to conduct more than 2 crore tests so far. 


•This was informed by Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad on 5 Dec 2020. 


• 166,938 samples were examined in the state on 4 Dec 2020. 


• Till date, a total of 2,10,28,312 samples have been examined, which has not been done in the country by any state.

4. Judge G.R Udhwani passes away of COVID-19 


•Gujarat High Court sitting Judge G.R Udhwani passed away in Dec 2020 due to Covid19. 


•He began his law practice in 1987 and was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Gujarat High Court in 2012. 


•Prior to that, he was Registrar General in the High Court. 


•He was among the three sitting judges who were tested positive in Nov 2020.

1. China unfurl its Flag on Moon 


•China becomes the second nation to plant flag on the Moon. 


•Chinese spacecraft Chang'e-5 the Chinese flag was raised on the Moon's surface. 


•The Chang’e-5 mission was sent to the Moon to understand the origin of the Moon and to bring back Moon samples. 


•China will be the third country to retrieve samples from the Moon, after the United States and the former Soviet Union in the 1960s and 1970s.

2. Assam proposes 6th National Park 


• The Assam government has proposed setting up a national park in a militancy ravaged reserve forest, which, if approved, would make it the state's sixth national park. 


•The process for approving Raimona National Park has been initiated. 


•The existing national parks in Assam are Kaziranga, Manas, Dibru-Saikhowa, Manas and Orang.

3. Pixxel to launch remote-sensing satellite 


• Pixxel will launch its ist remote-sensing satellite on the ISRO rocket Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) in early 2021. 


•For this, the firm has entered into an agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), a Govt of India company under the Space Dept. 


•This first-of-a-kind private earth-observation mission will help provide solutions to many pressing environmental and agricultural issues.

4. Mizoram's first solar power plant commissioned 


•Mizoram's first solar power plant has been commissioned at Tlungvel. 


•The grid-connected 2 megawatts solar photovoltaic (SPV) solar power plant was opened by state Power minister R Lalzirliana on 4 Dec 2020.


•A 20 MW solar power plant and 5 MW solar power plant are also being currently constructed at Vankal in Khawzawil district and near Saitual town respectively.

5. Radhakrishnan Nair: Chief Coach of AFI 


•Athletics Federation of India has appointed Radhakrishnan Nair as its full-time Chief Coach, filling the post left vacant after the resignation of Bahadur Singh in July 2020. 


•Nair was the acting Chief Coach of Indian athletics since then. 


• He is the first Indian to have an International Coaching Enrichment Programme Certificate of the International Olympic Committee.

6. Goa CM inaugurates a college for B.Ed 


•Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated Dnyanvardhini Divyang Training College at Sanjay Centre for Special Children, Porvorim on 4 Dec 2020. 


•It will provide a Bachelor of Education (B.ED) degree in special education for specially enabled children. 


• The Goa government also started 10 days special camp for disabled people in 12 talukas in collaboration with the central government.

7. Napoli renames stadium in honor of Maradona 


•Italian club Napoli renamed its stadium in honor of former captain Diego Maradona. 


• The Naples city council approved the change of name from Stadio San Paolo to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. 


•In a 7-year stint at Napoli from 1984-91, Maradona led the club to its only Serie A titles in 1987 and 1990, the Italian Cup in 1987, and its only major European title, the UEFA Cup, in 1989.

•West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has named the newly-built Majerhat bridge in Kolkata as "Jai Hind" bridge to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose. 


• The bridge, on the arterial Diamond Harbour Road, connects the central part of the city to the southwestern suburbs of Behala and beyond.

•Vice President Venkaiah Naidu has virtually released the book, '40 Years with Abdul KalamUntold Stories’ authored by Dr Sivathanu Pillai. 


•The book provides a gripping first-hand account of Dr Kalam’ life. 


•It has been published by Pentagon Press LLP and the foreword has been written by Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India.

5. Delhi govt launches electric vehicles forum 


•The Delhi government announced the launch of an “EV forum’, a common platform for multiple stakeholders to hold discussions on the government's electric vehicle policy. 


•The focus of Delhi's EV forum would be to enable engagement of a wide range of stakeholders in the EV ecosystem for successful implementation of the EV policy. 


•The objective of the policy is to combat air pollution in Delhi.

•PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation and perform 'bhumi pujan' for new Parliament building in New Delhi on December 10. 


•The new Parliament building will have a seating capacity for 888 members in the Lok Sabha, and the Rajya Sabha will have a capacity of 384. 


•Gujarat-based architecture firm HCP Designs has designed the Central Vista redevelopment project.
