Goldbach’s Conjecture:

Goldbach’s Conjecture:

In 1742 German Mathematician Goldbach proposed a conjecture as

“Even numbers greater than 2 can be written as sum of two primes”

e.g. 4 = 2 + 2; 6 = 3 + 3; 8 = 3 + 5; 10 = 3 + 7; 12 = 5 + 7; 14 = 7 + 7; 14 = 3 + 11; 16 = 3 + 13; 16 = 5 + 11; 18 = 7 + 11; 18 = 5 + 13; 20 = 3 + 17; 20 = 7 + 13; 22 = 11 + 11; 22 = 5 + 17

and so on for all even numbers greater than 2 till 4 X 1014

Till this date no one was able to prove it false by giving a counterexample.

Conjecture

 

Vande Matram! Note this down.

 

The sum of the first n odd positive numbers is equal to n2.

Let’s prove this

1stpositive odd number is 1 = 12.
Sum of first two positive odd numbers is: 1 + 3 = 4 = 22.
Sum of first three positive odd numbers is: 1 + 3 + 5 = 9 = 32.

And so on.

Let’s find sum of the first ten positive odd numbers:

1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + 9 + 11 + 13 + 15 + 17 + 19 = 100 = 102.

Thus it is proved that the sum of the first n odd positive numbers is equal to n2.

Such a rule is called “conjecture”.

What will be the next number in the series?

-5,    -2,    4,    13,    ?

Explanation:

You have to add a number in the previous term to get the next number.

There is also a pattern in numbers added respectively.

The pattern of numbers to be added is 3, 6, 9, and so on. 

To get the next number add 12 in 13 i.e. 12 + 13 = 25

Hence the answer is 25.

What will be the next number in the series?

-7,    -5,    -1,    5,    ?

Explanation:

You have to add a number in the previous term to get the next number.

There is also a pattern in numbers added respectively.

The pattern of numbers to be added is 2, 4, 6, and so on. 

To get the next number add 8 in 5 i.e. 8 + 5 = 13

Hence the answer is 13.

What will be the next number in the series?

-4,    1,    11,    26,    ?

Explanation:

You have to add a number in the previous term to get the next number.

There is also a pattern in numbers added respectively.

The pattern of numbers to be added is 5, 10, 15, and so on. 

To get the next number add 20 in 26 i.e. 20 + 26 = 46.

Hence the answer is 46.

Explanation:

You have to add a number in the previous term to get the next number.

There is also a pattern in numbers added respectively.

The pattern of numbers to be added is 4, 8, 12, and so on. 

To get the next number add 16 in 21 i.e. 16 + 21 = 37.

Hence the answer is 37.

-8,    -1,    13,    34,    ?

Explanation:

You have to add a number in the previous term to get the next number.

There is also a pattern in numbers added respectively.

The pattern of numbers to be added is 7, 14, 21, and so on. 

To get the next number add 28 in 34 i.e. 28 + 34 = 62.

Hence the answer is 62.

Each next term is 4 times that of the previous term. 

Hence the next number will be 64 X 4 = 256

Answer is 256

Explanation:

Each next term is 2 times that of the previous term. 

Hence the next number will be 16 X 2 = 32

Answer is 32

Explanation:

Each next term is 3 times that of the previous term. 

Hence the next number will be 81 X 3 = 243

Answer is 243

Explanation:

Each next term is 5 times that of the previous term. 

Hence the next number will be 250 X 5 = 1250

Answer is 1250

Each next term is 6 times that of the previous term. 

Hence the next number will be 216 X 6 = 1296

Can you tell me what will be 

the next figure of this pattern?


It is very simple to understand that what will be the next figure.

The first figure is having 2 rows, the second is having 3 rows and the third is having 4 rows. And hence in the same way next will have 5 rows.

The first figure is having 2 columns, the second is having 3 columns and the third is having 4 columns. And hence in the same way next will have 5 columns.

But here is a twist. All the figures are looking like a staircase.

So in the next figure, a staircase with 5 stairs will be shown made up of 5 rows and 5 columns. 

Thus the answer to this will be as follows:
