· Every system that weakens our mind makes one superstitious, make one mope, makes one desire all sorts of wild responsibility mysterious, superstition, I do not like, because its effect is dangerous. Such systems never do good such things create morbidity in the mind, makes it weak so weak that in course of time it will be almost impossible to receive truth or live up to it. Strength therefore is the one thing needful.
· Religion is the manifestation of the natural strength that is in man, it is always a manifestation of strength.
· I love my nation; I cannot see you degraded, weakened anymore than you are now. Therefore I am bound for your sake and for truth to cry Hold and to raise my voice against this degradation of my race. These are the weakening mysticism and be strong... The truths of the Upanishads are before you. Take them up live up to them, and the salvation of India will be at hand.
· A note on superstition: The no. 13 is unlucky. A black cat is crossing your way will bring ill luck etc. These ideas are called superstition. It must be noted that what is commonly meant by this term superstition is not referred by Swami Vivekananda. Generally we consider our physical body as our true self and do not recognize our spiritual self our innermost self this wrong is what is meant by superstition according to swami Vivekananda.
