Archaeology

Many of us watch History channel, National Geographic channel or similar tv channels. This information has been dug out by people who spend days and nights with history books and visiting historical places. Such studies are generally called archaeology.
A career as an archaeologist can take you to different places in the world. Important discoveries and find answers to mysteries about how humans have lived.
Archaeology is quite simple, the study of human cultures from around the world and throughout time. Archaeologist find and study artifacts to discover how those people lived, what they wore, when they hunted or farmed, how built their homes, what toys there children played with and what they believe in.
Archaeology is science of studying human cultures through the recovery, analysis, and documentation of material remains and environmental data like architecture, artifacts, landscapes bio facts. Your day at work can range from excavation in the Egyptian desert to working with native people in Alaska. It includes both physical activity and intellectual pursuit. The fascination with the past, the thrill of the discovery and the wide range of activities in archaeology make it a very desirable career for many people. Archaeology is an often multidisciplinary subject, integrating the knowledge of history, geography and anthropology with geology, chemistry, art and literature.
Archaeology try to learn about previous generations especially those in the distant past stretching from those as far back in time as the Indus valley civilization to more recent historical period like the Middle Ages in Europe. An archaeologist tries to study historical period in their time and find out about the lives of its people and the characteristics of its culture. They are driven by a person for a history and culture of the past. They try to rediscover history and interpret history.
Typical work day defence on the kind of job one is assigned to. There often a lot of things like budget to be prepared, reports to write up, conversation management plans and permit applications. Field work is always interesting but you don't do it every day. All some days you might do some short site visits and other days none. Work also involved spending a lot of time at the site of excavation. One has to camp at the site and stay there for months at a  time while working on the project.
The work of an archaeologist involved carefully excavation the artifacts, then clearing them, preservation of them and studying them. One therefor has to have some knowledge about the historical conditions of the time and place as well as the geographical conditions of the area both in the past and present, archaeological matter a bit of chemistry for safety excavation and preservation of artefacts.
Study of the artifacts often requires the knowledge of the other languages. Some even dead languages as well as knowledge of that period including some knowledge of its artistic forms. Some different archaeological sciences are as follows Archeaologmetri, dendrochronology, isotope analysis, palynology, radiocarbon dating, zoo archaeology, geo archaeology. The nature of work thus involves a lot of scientific work as well.
All the courses related to archaeology are available on the respective websites of all the universities in india. You can start with graduation course to complete a degree either in science or humanities and then go for post graduation in the field of archaeology.
