1. TCS crosses 211 trin in market capitalisation 


•Tata Consultancy Services Ltd's market capitalisation surged past 211 trillion on December 28, making it the second Indian firm after Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) to achieve this milestone. 

•Shares of TCS jumped nearly 1.2% intraday to hit an all-time high of 32942 a piece on the BSE with an mcap of 211.03 trillion. 

•RIL remains India's most valued company with an mcap of 212.75 trillion.

2. ICF develops new high-speed Vistadome coaches 


•Indian Railways’ Integral Coach Factory, the coach manufacturing unit located in Chennai, has successfully completed the speed trials of the new design Vistadome tourist coaches. 

•Vistadome tourist coach has successfully completed 180kmph oscillation trial. 

•The Vistadome coach has large glass windows, glass roof, observation lounge and rotatable seats.

3. Dixon to make smartphones for Motorola 


•Padget Electronics has signed an agreement with Lenovo-owned Motorola to manufacture smartphones for the company in India. 

•Padget Electronics is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, and is among five domestic manufacturers who have been approved to receive benefits of the government's new production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for smartphones,

4. Dance historian Sunil Kothari passes away 


• Padma Shri dance historian and critic Sunil Kothari passed away in December 2020. 

• He authored more than 20 books on the subject of Indian dance forms including “Sattriya Dances of Assam’; “New Directions in Indian Dance’ 

•Kothari received numerous titles and awards for his contribution to Indian dance forms including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1995).

5. Dhoni: Spirit of Cricket Award of The Decade 


•MS Dhoni, former India captain, won the International Cricket Council Spirit of Cricket Award of The Decade. 

•The wicketkeeper-batsman won the award 

for his decision to call back lan Bell after the former England batsman was run out in a bizarre manner during a Test match in 2011. 

•Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan took home the T20I cricketer of the decade award.

6. Cinematographer Ishwar Bidri passes away 


•Mumbai Veteran cinematographer Ishwar Bidri, best known for his work in popular 1990s films like “Andaz Apna Apna" and "Border", passed away in December 2020, 

•Born in Karnataka's Banhatti town, Ishwar Bidri is best known for his longstanding collaboration with filmmaker JP Dutta for whom he shot action dramas like “Yateem", "Hathyar", "Batwara" in the late 1980s and the 1998 war epic "Border"

7. Tesla to start operation in India in 2021 


•Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has confirmed that American electric vehicle company Tesla will begin its operations in India in 2021, 

•Tesla will initially begin with sales and perhaps venture towards assembly, sales, and manufacturing. 

•Tesla will launch Model 3 in India in June 2021 and the bookings for the same will begin from January 2021.

8. TN CM inaugurates Mayiladuthurai district 


•Tamil Nadu CM K Palaniswami has inaugurated the newly-formed Mayiladuthurai district through video conferencing on December 28, 2020. 

•The 38th district in the state has been carved out of Nagapattinam district. 

•The new district comprises four taluks Mayiladuthurai, Sirkazhi, Tarangambadi, and Kuthalam. The total population of 9.01 lakh.

9. Karnataka’'s first 'Rice ATM' to be installed 


•Karnataka’s first rice dispensing machine or ‘rice ATM’ will come up in one of the slum areas in Bengaluru. 

•The initiative is part of the Centre's pilot project ‘Annapurti, that is being implemented in close partnership with the UN's World Food Programme. 

•These machines will also be set up at five locations across five states Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

10. Karnataka govt passes anti-cow slaughter bill 


•Karnataka Cabinet cleared the ordinance on the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill (2020) on December 28, 2020. 

•The bill will be now sent to the Governor for approval. 

•The anti-cow slaughter bill was passed in the Karnataka Assembly on December 9. 

• The bill proposes a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh for the offenders.

11. China launches RS satellite 'Yaogan-33' 


•China successfully launched a new remote sensing satellite into space on December 28, 2020. 

•The satellite, Yaogan-33, was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China. 

•It was launched aboard a Long March-4C rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully. 

•It was the 357th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.

12. Robotic disinfectant to fight Covid-19 


•A Hyderabad-based start-up called 'H-Bots Robotics’ has introduced a robotic disinfectant named ‘ACCORD: 

•The company claims that this new product will help in the fight against Covid-19. 

•‘Accord’ will be available at a range between %2.5 lakh rupees to 27 lakh and is available in manual, semi-manual and autonomous variant.

13. Telangana farmers to get financial assistance 


•Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced that all farmers in the state will receive financial assistance under the Rythu Bandhu scheme from 28 December 2020, 

•Areview meeting in this regard was held at Pragathi Bhavan on 27 December 2020, 

•The state government had announced earlier in Dec 2020 that the financial aid would be given from Dec 27, 2020, to January 7, 2021.

14. Bihar wins Digital India Award 


•The Bihar govt has won the Digital India Awards, instituted by the central govt, for innovative steps in e-governance. 

•It has been awarded for its initiative to transfer financial assistance directly to the accounts of beneficiaries during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

• More than 21 lakh stranded workers outside Bihar were provided financial assistance through the "Bihar Sahayata Mobile App"

15. New mutual funds rules from 2021 


• Mutual funds have gone through many regulatory changes in 2020. 

•In order to make mutual funds more transparent and safer for investors, SEBI has introduced some measures which will be effective from 2021. 

•Some of these changes include the change in portfolio allocation rules for multi-cap equity mutual funds, renaming of dividend option, etc.

16. Army Chief leaves for S, Korea on 3-day visit 


•Army Chief General MM Naravane on 28 December 2020, left for South Korea on a three-day visit. 

•During the visit, he will hold talks with the top defense brass of the country on ways to expand bilateral military cooperation. 

•The Army Chief will also visit the Korea Combat Training Centre in Gangwon province. 

•South Korea has been a major supplier of military platforms and weapons to India.

17. Facebook signs deal with Tips Music 


• Facebook has signed a global music licensing deal with Bollywood music label Tips. 

•With the move, Facebook and Instagram users will be able to add Tips’ music catalog for videos and other social experiences to their posts and stories. 

•The library including yesteryear hits of artists such as Alka Yagnik will be available for social experiences such as videos, stories via music stickers.
