Clothing

Clothing

Early people use barks, leaves, etc to cover their body as cloths.

Cloths are made up of fibers may be natural. Plant fibers- cotton, jute, etc; Animal fibers- silk, wool, etc. Man-made fibers- synthetic {like nylon}.

Our country and cultural traditions determines our clothing like Indian women wear sarees while Japanese women wear kimono.

We have to wear dark colored clothes in winter because they absorb heat. They should be dried in shed otherwise they will be discolored. And we wear light colored clothes in summer because they reflect light.

Neem leaves are natural means of preventing cloth safe from insects. Moth balls contain synthetic fibers means of the same that contain naphthalene.

Mundu-Mundu is a single type of cloth worn around waist or treated as bottom in Kerala. Worn by both men and women, Mundu has a variant for both genders. It looks similar to lungi or dhoti. For women Mundu and Neriyathu are worn with a blouse.
While Mundu refers to lower part of garment that is worn waist downwards, Neriyathu is upper part of it, which is either tucked into blouse or worn over the left shoulder.
