On the first day of class, she taught the letter A. When she returned from school, she found her fawns playing with langurs, Mother deer said to one "i am changing you name to A deer," "A deer? But I am a deer anyway! I am one deer," One prospected. "No you don't understand today I was taught letter A the first letter of alphabets. You will learn it if your name is A. "So I am A One deer," "A 1 means excellent" said the knowledgeable. "Really I don't knew that," confessed the mother deer. The next day two was named B and third was named C. The fawns took sometime to learn letters, B had protested "Be deer? you mean be a dear?" C had resorted "What do you mean mother C? See deer? see what? The deer? of course I can see all the deer."
But they finally relented, mother deer could be very firm sometimes. "What will be my name, mother?" asked four. "O deer, you will have to wait for it till tomorrow." said mother deer. But four had to wait much longer for something happened the next day. On the fourth dear mother reached the school very early. and was patiently waiting for the class to begin, when there was a sound the langurs were swinging in great speed and the deers were running at a great speed they were racing. Mother deer shouted "hey A B C Four, stop!". But they disappeared, she stop their for the night and next day she crossed meadows, hill and valleys in a heavy rain that evening she finally found them. "Langurs go away in monsoons to find shelters for rainy days." Mother explained. "And we are stuck in rain." complained A. "Why don't we cross the stream it looks safer there." "There's a board here, what does it say?" said B. "I haven't learnt enough to read boards." said mother deer. "Must be name of stream?" suggested C. "Let's go" said Four and the fawns crossed the stream. Mother deer followed them, they walk along rocks, climbed hills and finally found a cosy cave they rested their it rained heavily. The next morning they got shocked the rain was not stopped the after ten days the water level was normal and they made their way back. On the road they saw Barasingha he said "thank goodness you are safe," he exclaimed in relief. She told the whole story and he said "let me read it for you, danger do not enter here in monsoon flash floods are common beware of tigers," A,B and C fainted and Four was hysterical. "Mother what would be my name?" "O deer, let me find out." Barasingha tomorrow we will teach letter O. "O deer, four your new name is O deer," she announced. "Oh no" "Not O No deer only O deer."
